320. PRIMARIA SBS. Co-teaching is a great team!

One of the aspects that I enjoy about teaching at La Sacra, is the element of co-teaching… “Two heads are better than one”… I am really lucky to have amazing co-teachers who are very inventive, creative, and are always wanting to give the best experience to the kids.

With this said, Alesandra Minola and I were programming science lessons and struggled with how to make the kids understand the link between the respiratory system and circulatory system. We both arrived at the same conclusion: Let’s build a circulatory and respiratory system and have the kids become the oxygen and carbon dioxide molecules.

I am a huge proponent of physical activity as a methodology, as I believe that children are still very physical at this age, and so I always add an element of physicality to a lesson. And so with this in mind using blue and red tape, I taped the lungs and heart with veins and arteries on the floor of the gym and with white (oxygen) and black (carbon dioxide) card boards we became the blood that runs through our system.

The kids really enjoyed themselves, and best of all, when I quizzed them the following week of how the two systems worked… they remembered everything!
