This year the students of the SBS year 1 had ample time to speak about technology and discuss its effects on their lives. They debated about technology being either a “bane” or “boon”. Part of the preparatory activities to help the students acquire all the necessary vocabulary and knowledge on the topic of technology was speaking and reading about inventions. The students read about great inventions that have had massive and drastic effects on the lives of people and today’s society.
In the conclusive part of these series of readings and debates related to technology, the year 1 SBS students were asked to create their own invention and speak about how they would help change or solve a problem or situation in the society. Each student worked individually and was able to put their creativity at work, creating unique inventions which they presented to the rest of the class.
Needless to say, this was a moment of great creativity mixed with fun for each student and even for the ones who were quite skeptical regarding the task of inventing something new.
