L’insegnante Michela ci parla in questo articolo di come l’arte possa suscitare emozioni che toccano l’anima e che ci portano alla scoperta di molti altri mondi.
When I was given the task of teaching art to the elementary school, I was elated, as art I believe is a door into many worlds and I was honoured to take the children on this adventure.
In my first class with the 4ths, I asked them one question “What is art?” At first, they seemed to think this was a simple question, and gave me answers along the lines of “paintings, sculptures and drawings”. After much debate, we began discussing how most things around us are drawn and designed by human beings. This then brought about the distinction between art and design.
I then asked them to look in the classroom and tell me what they thought was art and what was design. After another long debate, we established that art had an element of emotion while design had an element of functionality. By the end of the lesson, we had established that everything in the classroom was either art or design… and then an amazing comment was said, “not everything, my body is not art or design. it was designed and made by God”. I love teaching!
